What is the theme, who is attending, the Met Gala in 2025 "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style

Image
Yesterday, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York hosted the Met Gala, the year's largest fashion event. Anna Wintour always comes up with an amazing concept. The event's theme this year was "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style." Twelve traits of Black dandyism will be used to organise the event showcase, which examines the significance of fashion and style in the development of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora.   My top pick for best dressed was this: When I learnt that this would be the theme, I was thrilled because I thought it would allow actors, fashion models, and celebrities to use their clothing to honour Black culture. Since I was a young boy, I have loved suits, so I was excited to see what suits everyone would be wearing.   The co-chairs were Lewis Hamilton, Pharrel, A$AP Rocky, and Colman Domingo in addition to Anna Wintour. I thought that a night full of imaginative, elegant suits would have been f...

There is a hint of spring here.

Image
Which season is your favourite of the year? Naturally, I don't have one because, as someone who was born in June, I adore the summer. However, during the holiday season, I also enjoy it when it becomes a little cooler. For now, I am embracing the arrival of spring and its debut! The weather has been inconsistent, with some days being cold and others being sunny. The sun rising always makes me feel better and mo re energised. You start to feel better and like you can take on the world once more. Because of the way things change in the spring, I also think that it's time for new experiences and adventures. It could be for a new career, a new home, a new relationship, or simply attempting new things in life. Now is the time to look into your options and attempt new things. Additionally, I believe that you have more vitality to advance in life throughout the spring and summer.  The majority of us make our January revolutions and manifest for the year, but I believe that by...

Explore the legendary model Naomi Campell's remarkable career.

Image
Every time I visit London, I want to do something artistic, such as visit a museum or see an exhibition.  When I saw that the V&A Museum will be hosting an homage to Naomi Campell, I knew I had to go. I am a big fan of the V&A museum since they usually have interesting events going on. This is the first exhibition of its sort, and you can discover more about Naomi Campell's incredible career since the beginning. The exhibition celebrates the magazines that she has covered as well as the work of renowned worldwide designers and photographers. With the most gorgeous pictures from her magazines and life moments, the show demonstrates why she is such a world-renowned model. What I especially loved about the exhibit was that it displayed large and key moments from her life. For example, when she arrived for her final day at the community, she was dressed in this stunning couture Dolce & Gabbana gown. Only she is capable of pulling off such a feat in fashion history. I ...

An update on my life experiences!

Image
It's been a while. I cannot believe I haven't written anything in the last couple months! Many new things have happened in my life. I'd want to discuss fresh changes and experiences with you all. Since September, I've returned from London to my hometown of Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Last summer, I graduated and was unsure what to do next. When I was offered a traineeship at a Dutch television channel, I couldn't help but say yes.  Of course, leaving London was difficult because I had almost spent four years there, building a new life with friends and family.  Compared to Rotterdam, where I know all of my family and friends live, London is a wonderful city that has shaped me into the person I am today. I had a wonderful experience, especially when I received my degree, which I am really proud of. After months of coming home, I completed my traineeship. I understand that the sector in which I wish to work (fashion and television) is difficult and competitive. But I...

Review: Barbie's world is a sugar plastic funtastic feminis planet.

Image
I'm a Barbie girl in the Barbie world Every child from the 1980s and 1990s remembers the lyrics to Aqua's popular song.  I was thrilled to learn that they intended to produce a film about it. I was hesitant to watch it at first because I assumed it would be too girlie or have a weak storyline. Greta Gerwig's film begins with amazing actors such as Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, and Issa Rae. The trailer seemed promising.  The most appealing aspect of the film is the abundance of sugar and pink on the set and in the costumes. It does feel like a giant girlie doll home, with feminist themes running throughout the film. It's amusing to watch how the plastic Barbie world is completely at odds to the actual reality.  The film features not just the Barbies, ...

Book review good vibes, good life

Image
This book is all about improving your life by practising self-love and self-care, as well as turning negative thoughts into good ones. This may sound cliche, but having more money, more belongings, or a different career does not guarantee a happy existence. Finding out what makes you happy and then doing it is the key to living a fulfilled life. Being grateful in life makes you appreciate the small things in life more, such as spending time with family and friends or watching a movie with your partner. Vex King wrote the book, which was the number one Sunday Times bestselling non-fiction book in 2021.  The book is good in my opinion because it teaches you to get outside of your comfort zone. Changes are a part of life, and figuring out what makes you happy is part of manifesting what you deserve. Good Vibes, Good Life is a book on manifesting your desires, living meaningfully, and appreciating the simple things. The author discusses how to be content with oneself by embracing what ...

Exhibition Aladdin Sane: 50 Years

Image
Attending the David Bowie anniversary at Southbank Centre One of the most significant pop culture photos from the last fifty years was on display in an exhibition fifty years ago: a portrait by photographer Brian Duffy. The rock and roll culture of the 1960s and 1970s is immediately palpable as soon as you enter the room. With images of various celebrities from that era, it helps you get a sense of how things were back when rock music was popular. When social media wasn't around or some people didn't even have a TV, there were various newspapers on the wall with news about rock celebrities.  It gives you the impression that we've come a long way when you see all those real papers on the wall. You get enthusiastic and happy reading about how they had the No. 1 album or songs on the radio in London when you see the advertisements on the walls for concerts by Elton John, The Jackson 5 and David Bowie. If you were a child in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, or 1990s, you probably rec...
